A special instrument, with micro needles, is used to treat superficial / deep acne
scars. The procedure will even out the skin texture through collagen stimulation.
Swelling and redness usually occurs after the procedure; the swelling subsides in
4–6 hours while the redness settles down in 24 hours.
Apply a local anaesthetic cream 1 hour before the procedure.
Use an antibiotic cream twice daily for 3 days after the procedure.
Use a mild cleanser and moisturiser for 5 days after the procedure.
Avoid excessive exposure to the sun during and in between treatment.
Use a sunscreen of SPF 30 regularly after the treatment.
Apply make-up after 24 hours.
Dermaroller is a procedure that has been in vogue for the last three or four years.
It involves using a roller to which are attached numerous fine, very sharp medical
quality needles. Rolling these firmly over the skin causes micro puncturing into
the deep layers of the skin which helps to stimulate new collagen growth, treat
all types of scars, improve the skin texture and reduce the appearance of scarring
and fine to moderate lines. Skin needling takes approximately 30 minutes to complete
though you will need to arrive 45 minutes prior to allow for the application of
a topical anaesthetic.
Skin Needling is a procedure that uses multiple needles – 0.25mm in diameter, to
pierce the skin and create tiny injuries deep in the skin. These dermal injuries
lead to new collagen formation via the normal skin repair mechanisms. Skin Needling
also perforates and softens fibrous scar tissue enabling the deposition of new collagen.
The new collagen fills depressed scars and wrinkles from the bottom up lifting the
depression so they are level with the surrounding skin. This process takes 3-4 sessions
over 3 months to produce visible results and can also help thicken thin, fragile
skin.
Acne Scarring
Lines and wrinkles
Sun-damaged skins
Thin, fragile skin
Accutane use in the last 6 months (Oral Isotretinoin)
Dermatitis or infection in the area to be treated
Pregnancy
Keloid tendency
Hypertrophic Scars
Mild to moderate redness and sensitivity in the treated area lasting 12
to 48 hours.
Mild to moderate swelling and possible bruising for 2-3 days.
Dry and tight skin.
Tiny crusted areas occur all over that feel slightly rough for 2-3 days
in some cases when deep rolling is performed.
Varying amounts of flaking or peeling may occur approximately 3 days after
your treatment.
Makeup is fine to use after 48 hours, though just keeping the skin moist
often looks better and assists in faster healing time.
After the skin has shed it has a healthy glow, feels softer, smoother and
is more even in colour.
It is important to protect the new skin from the sun by using a broad spectrum
SPF 30+ sunscreen daily.
If the healing skin is incorrectly cared for it can prolong healing and
possibly lead to infection or scarring.
Possible herpes simplex outbreak if one prone to cold sores.
Hyperpigmentation (darker areas of pigment on the skin) lasting 1 to 12
months.

Once you’ve had your first treatment, there are a few simple steps for after care
that you will need to follow: Avoid the use of moisturisers or lotions containing
active ingredients such as retinol, glycolic acids, perfumes and colours. Please
use a moisturizer for 3-7 days or until your skin is no longer sensitive. Thereafter,
continue with your usual products as before. Your skin will be a little more sensitive
to the sun so keep sun exposure to a minimum. Please wear your sunscreen daily.
This should be a regular routine for you anyway! You may apply makeup after 48 hours.
Slight crusting and/or scabbing in particular areas may develop. If so, please do
not rub or pick the skin so it heals completely.
Dermaroller Therapy can significantly
improve the appearance of:
Acne scars
Aged and sun damaged skin
Facial and
decollete lines and wrinkles
Stretch marks
Dermaroller provides advanced skin
micro-surgical needling, a procedure that stimulates the skin to regenerate and
repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking
skin.
How it works :
Dermaroller is a medical device to produce numerous microscopic
needle-columns in the skin. Each column will penetrate into the dermis of the skin
and will be approximately 0.1mm in width. The column will close rapidly enabling
the skin to recover quickly, often in the same day. Your practitioner will use a
topical anaesthetic to numb the skin making the procedure comfortable; it will normally
take up to 30 minutes for the topical anaesthetic to work and 20 - 30 minutes for
the Dermaroller procedure. After the Dermaroller procedure your body will start
to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis.
This takes time as new collagen and elastin is formed, new skin cells are generated
and blood supply is enhanced. It can take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of
regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following
months, providing you with a gradual and long lasting enhancement.
