CoolGlide excel is a high powered, long pulsed NdYag laser technology from Cutera,
USA, for hair removal. The laser has a 1064 nm wavelength, which is the ideal wavelength
for Indian skin types. Body and facial hair is removed in a virtually painless manner
with no skin irritation, discoloration or inflammation.
Stop bleaching / threading / waxing of hair a month before your appointment.
After the laser treatment, avoid excessive exposure to the sun, especially
between 11 am and 4 pm for at least a week.
Use SPF 15-30 sunscreen lotion regularly.
Do not splash warm / hot water to clean the treated area, for at least 2
days after the treatment.
Do not scrub the treated area too hard.
Do not swim for 2 days.
Do not bleach / thread / wax the treated area in between the treatment.
You could, however, shave the hair 2-3 times.
Yag is an infrared spectrum laser that allows deep penetration of the laser into
the skin to get to the deepest hairs. It's special cooling head, that remains in
contact with the skin, cools the skin in advance of the laser beam (and can be used
after it too) to protect the skin from damage. Consequently most or all of the sensation
of the treatment is from the very cool head. Some of the pulses can be felt as a
small needle-like prick at times. Special blackout eyewear is worn by the patient
to protect his/her eyes from stray laser light that does arise from reflection off
the skin and other surfaces. The operator wears a specially graded pair of laser
spectacles to protect his/her own sight. Likewise the treatment room is off limits
to others (including children) unless they are wearing special protective eyewear.

in at a rate that is suitable for the area and patient comfort. Areas near the teeth,
such as the lips and cheeks often have a moist gauze placed underneath in the mouth
between the teeth and the overlying area to stop laser energy warming the teeth
pulp.
